Core Fact on Job Interview Preparation
Experience is the best teacher. Nothing beats the spontaneity and authenticity of speech when backed by years of relevant professional experience.
For fresh graduates, there is a need to practice, research, and rehearse.
For experienced professionals, it’s second nature. Why? You can sense deep down if you are truly qualified for the job based on the years in the role you want to take!
You don’t even need a resume because you can perform a walk-through of your career to your interviewer. It’s not merely an interview anymore but rather a retelling of your life story.
7 Professional Reasons Your CV May Not Get You A Job
Here’s your best practices for a job interview preparation.
1. Record yourself. Is your tone of voice varied? Do you sound enthusiastic?
2. Get 2 friends, one is the interviewer, one is the interviewee, and the third of you three is the observer to give feedback. Take turns playing each role.
3. If you haven’t had an interview before or for a while, research – find out what type of interview it will be, for example, would it be a behavioral or an EQ/IQ interview, make research.
4. Write questions down on post-it notes, mix them up, and keep practicing in different orders.
5. Don’t practice slumped on the couch. Get a table with chairs on both sides like an interview.
6. Choose your outfit. Don’t rely on the last minute to throw on the nearest suit in the wardrobe.
7. Imagine you are already in the job. Close your eyes and picture it. This helps with calming and answering.
8. Practice your greeting. Decisions can be made in the first 5 minutes, make sure your address is right.
9. Read the job description again and again so you could almost recite it. This will help you be geared up as to what to promote in your answers.
10. Practice your interview with a virtual or face to face interview coach.
